Working visa:

Information about talents and modeling in Taiwan.

Many people feel that if they have an ARC, or students visa they wouldn't have no problem doing TV Commercial or Modeling work in Taiwan.

But without having a working visa specific for doing modeling or talents work you are putting yourself ad risk.
Many of agencies in Taiwan are licensed to handle cases that deal with Asian Models/Talents they are unable to work with non citizens of Taiwan. Their are also many freelance agents and agencies have no licensed at all. and are breaking a law and are also not paying Taxes
make them a greater target for getting caught. This mean that these agencies are putting any foreigners at risk.

The government is now offering rewards to anyone who report these types of illegal businesses or anyone who working are illegal.
since the modeling/talents business have such high exposure, this makes this type of work much more risk the other jobs.

When a model/ talent agrees to do a commercial for V&L
V&L sign both contracts with the model/ talent , and V&L's client normally client's is responsible for the model/ talent's working visa unless client and V&L has an agreement saying that V&L will provide it. V&L also provides working visa for an exclusive contract model

For Part time work (for each case)
- Passport copy.
- ARC copy (if available).
- home address in Taiwan and oversea.

For Full time work (3-12 moths)

- working experience (in English).
- school certificate (in English).

The Taiwan modeling industry:

The Taiwanese modeling industry regularly needs foreign models for TV commercials.

Modeling jobs range from background figuration to playing the main role in TV commercials, soap operas, or variety shows. Some performances for TV shows require Chinese speaking ability. In other cases, such as background models, no previous modeling experience is required.

Income varies depending on the number of hours, tape of role or performance, previous experience and case negotiation.

Many of the casting and production house in Taiwan are loosely organized and not always consistent in way they conduct business. Be aware that several might occur in terms of organization ( casting and shooting schedules, client's requirements, etc.)

V&L is an intermediary between its clients and its talents, and solves problems arising from either side. Our models are ensured good working conditions and our clients are guaranteed a professional attitude from V&L's models. We always try to arrange a schedule that coincides with the a availability of the model.

The income of the model/talent can vary from case-to-case due to differing production budgets,but the model's income is always agreed on in advance between the agency and the model.

Professionalism

Talents represent the agency at all times during castings and shootings and are expected to act professionally during these assignments. Once the talent has agree to a job, he/she cannot change his/her mind after a commitment has been made.

Job Selection

Models are sent to a casting when we believe that they suit our clients's requirements. For their first casting, new models will be accompanied by an agent from V&L. If time allows, they will be briefed on how to perform during a casting.

Casting

A casting is the method our clients use to select models. In a casting, the models complete an information sheet. The models then stands in front of a video camera to introduce themselves (sometimes a little acting required ) and is photographed. The whole process takes about 5 minutes and it meant to persuade the client to choose then for the job.

The models represent the agency; therefore, they must act professionally during a casting by cooperating with production crew, and by trying to understand the client's requirements. When not accompanied by a V&L agent, they must leave V&L as the contact number.

To facilitate future negotiation, please carry a V&L name card when going to castings and never give a personal contact number or address to any member of the production crew or to anyone at the casting. This is for your own protection.

If the model is selected, he/she will be promptly notified on the date and terms of the job. If a talent joins a casting and finds himself/herself selected, he/she is required to take the job.

V&L New Talent Requirement

New talents can choose to hire a photographer through V&L, or hire a personal photographer, for a portfolio shot in-studio that shows the talent in different style of clothing, hair- style and make-up. These photos belong to the talents and are borrowed by the agency to aid in the talent's promotion. In some cases, the photos may be kept by the client. Because of these facts, it is always important to have a second set of pictures from your portfolio ready.

A photocopy of the talent's passport (first page and visa) and ARC for the tax report.

If the talent has been in Taiwan R.O.C for over 183 days or holds an ARC, the tax the talent needs to pay for each job is 10%. If the talent has not stayed in Taiwan R.O.C for 183 days, or hold a tourist visa, the tax the talent needs to pay is 20% per case.

V&L must be notified in advance of any changes in the talent's contact number. V&L should also be kept aware of any trips/journeys out of Taipei (by-email or phone).

We expect the talents to sign a cooperation contract with us as an assurance that our agency and clients can expect a professional attitude from the people who represent V&L. A cooperation contract is required to guaranty the working relationship between the model and V&L. This contract shows the clients that the model/talent are detailed in the requirements of each specific case.
